At The Levett School, we are committed to ensuring that children in care and previously looked-after children receive the support, care and educational opportunities they need to achieve positive outcomes.
We recognise that children who are, or have previously been, in care may have experienced disruption, trauma, changes in placement or education, and other barriers which can affect their engagement, relationships, attendance and progress.
We take a child-centred and trauma-informed approach, recognising the individual strengths, experiences and needs of each pupil. Our aim is to provide a safe, predictable and nurturing environment in which pupils can develop positive relationships, engage in learning, build confidence and make progress towards their individual goals.
We work closely with pupils, carers, parents where appropriate, social workers, Virtual Schools, mainstream schools and other professionals to ensure that educational provision is coordinated and responsive to need.
The school has a Designated Teacher for Children in Care and Previously Looked-After Children who acts as a key advocate for pupils and supports the school to ensure that their educational needs are understood and addressed.

Children in care are supported through a Personal Education Plan (PEP), which forms part of their wider care planning.
